New Errata Info - Dec. 2023

The Force of Will Company has recently offered new errata information and ruling changes to the Comprehensive Rules documents.
The full list of changes are listed below:

FoW Errata & Rule Updates

This document contains Errata for cards and SOME rule updates for Force of Will. Please see the current CR for all the Comprehensive Rules.


Errata

Homeland

  • Old Text:

    • Homeland (Cocoon) - At the beginning of the game >>> You may reveal a Cocoon addition you own from outside the game and put it into the field.

  • New Text:

    • Homeland (Cocoon) - At the beginning of the game >>> You may put a Cocoon addition from your hand into the field.

  • Notes:

    • This errata is for both Homeland (Cocoon) and Homeland (Solaris).

[Partner] 2

  • Old Text:

    • [Partner] 2 (Moonchild) (You may start the game with this ruler and up to two Moonchild rulers with «Bond» that don't share a name. Put them into your ruler area.)

  • New Text:

    • [Partner] 1 (Moonchild) (You may start the game with this ruler and up to one Moonchild ruler with «Bond». Put them into your ruler area.)

  • Notes:

    • This errata is for both [Partner] 2 (Moonchild) and [Partner] 2 (Sunchild).

Eins (NWE-090)

  • Old Text:

    • At the beginning of your turn >>> You may reveal a light, fire, water, wind or darkness Gears you own from outside the game that does not share a name with other Gears you own revealed outside the game and keep it revealed until end of game.

    • This card gains all abilities of light, fire, water, wind and darkness Gears you own revealed outside the game.

    • Homeland (Solaris) - At the beginning of the game >>> You may reveal a Solaris addition you own from outside the game and put it into the field.

  • New Text:

    • At the beginning of your turn >>> You may reveal a non-Solaris light, fire, water, wind or darkness Gears resonator with “Solari” in its name you own from outside the game that does not share a name with other Gears you own revealed outside the game and keep it revealed until end of game.

    • This card gains all abilities of cards you own revealed outside the game that are revealed by this card.

    • Homeland (Solaris) - At the beginning of the game >>> You may put a Solaris addition from your hand into the field.

Repairing the Deathscythe (TWS-092)

  • Old Text:

    • [Awakening] [1], rest two recovered Moon Protection rulers you control: You may contract this card with a ruler with [Partner] you control.

  • New Text:

    • [Awakening] [1], rest a recovered Moon Protection ruler you control: You may contract this card with a ruler with [Partner] you control.

Prototype Magi Trooper (NWE-095)

  • Old Cost:

Deathmetal, Sea of Metal (TUS-061)

  • Old Text:

    • [Enter] >>> Draw two cards, then remove two cards in your hand from the game. Produce [R] or [B] for each Metal Lifeform removed this way.

  • New Text:

Solari, Religious Nation (NWE-081)

  • Old Text:

    • This card enters the field rested.

  • New Text:

    • This card enters the field rested if it is put into the field by a Homeland ability.

  • Old Text:

    • Banish a resonator token: You gain life equal to its DEF.

  • New Text:

    • Destroy a resonator token you control: You gain life equal to its DEF.

The Origin of the Seven Lands (PofA-112)

  • Old text:

    • [1], reveal this card from your hand: You may reveal a card you own from outside the game and keep it revealed until end of game. Produce one will of an attribute shared with that card. Play this ability only during your turn, only once per turn, and only if you didn't play activate abilities of cards named "The Origin of the Seven Lands" from your hand this turn.

    • [Enter] >>> If you own cards named "Faria", "Melgis", "Pricia", "Valentina", "Machina", "Rezzard", and "Arla" and they all are revealed outside the game, for each of them put a resonator token copy of their J-ruler side into the field, without copying the J-ruler type.

    • You may pay [0] to play God's Art abilities of your J-ruler.

  • New text:

    • [1], reveal this card from your hand: You may reveal a ruler named "Arla", "Faria", "Machina", "Melgis", "Pricia", "Rezzard" or "Valentina" you own from outside the game and keep it revealed until end of game. If you do, produce one will of an attribute shared with the ruler revealed this way. Play this ability only during your turn, only once per turn and only if you didn't already play an activate ability of a card named "The Origin of the Seven Lands" from your hand this turn.

Lingering Scent of Fairies (CMB-007)

  • Old text:

    • Put a resonator with total cost 2 or less from your hand into the field, then return it to its owner's hand. Draw a card.

  • New text:

    • Put a Fairy resonator with total cost 2 or less from your hand into the field, then return it to its owner's hand. Draw a card.

Rumsfeld, Member of the Twelve Sacred Knights (CMB-010)

  • Old text: 

    • J/rulers your opponent controls lose all abilities.

  • New text: 

    • J/rulers lose all activate or automatic abilities as long as your opponent controls two or more J/rulers.

The Sword of Progression (TWS-065)

  • New text:

    • Choose up to X, where X is the number of times you already played a card named “The Sword of Progression” this game plus one. If you do not control a card named “Magog, Artificial Eclipse”, remove this card from the game as it resolves (in this case, you cannot play its Contract process);
      - Draw a card.
      - Cancel target spell.
      Choose this option only if this is the second or subsequent time you play a card named “The Sword of Progression” this game.
      - Return target resonator or addition to its owner’s hand.
      Choose this option only if this is the third or subsequent time you play a card named “The Sword of Progression” this game.
      - You may contract this card with “Ulga, Eclipser”.
      Choose this option only if this is the fourth or subsequent time you play a card named “The Sword of Progression” this game.

Memory of Worlds (TUS-043)

  • Old text:

    •  - Remove target spell from the game. Its owner may play it from their removed area.

  • New text: 

    • - Remove target spell from the game. Its owner may play it from their removed area as long as it is in their removed area.

The Great Wall of the Twelve Sacred Knights (NWE-083)

  • Old text:

    • Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you. If 900 or more damage was prevented by this ability this turn, destroy this card.

  • New text:

    • Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you. If 900 or more damage was prevented by this ability this turn, banish this card.

Gherta, the Tear of Passion (MPR-094)

  • Old text:

    • Remove a counter from a card you control: This card gains [Swiftness], [Flying] or [Precision] until end of turn.

  • New text:

    • Remove a counter from a ruler or entity you control: This card gains [Swiftness], [Flying] or [Precision] until end of turn.

Charge of the Fairy Tale King (NWE-023)

  • Old cost:

Decay of the Machines (GRV-050)

  • Old text:

    • You may put up to two revealed cards from outside the game into their owners’ graveyard. Draw a card.

  • New text:

    • You may put up to two revealed non-ruler cards from outside the game into their owners’ graveyard. Draw a card.

Tea Party before the Decisive Duel (GRL-014)

  • Old text:

    • Remove this card from the game.

      This card gains “Put this card from your removed area into your graveyard: Draw a card, then recover target magic stone you control. This turn, you may play your next light resonator spell as though it had [Quickcast].” as long as it is in your removed area.

  • New text:

    • Remove this card from the game. This card gains “Put this card from your removed area into your graveyard: Draw a card, then recover target magic stone you control. This turn, you may play your next light resonator spell as though it had [Quickcast].” as long as it is in your removed area.

  • Notes:

    • Wait… What?! What’s the erratum? Just chill and relax.
      If you re-read the new wording, the ability to put the card back into the graveyard is now after the effects of playing the card to remove it from the game.
      The difference is that Tea Party Before the Decisive Duel now no longer gains the additional text if it was removed via other means. It will only gain the text in the removed area when you play the spell. So no more Deathscythe shenanigans. 

Arena Expansion: Demonic World (GRL-068)

  • Old text:

    • Dark Spheres you control become [1000/1000] Fallen Angel resonators with [Flying] during your turn. They are still additions.

  • New text:

    • Dark Spheres you control become [1000/1000] Fallen Angel resonators with [Flying] during your turn. They are still Dark Sphere additions.

Underground Giant (GOG-043)

  • Old text:

    • Return all resonators your opponent controls to their owners' hands.

  • New text

    • [Enter] >>> Return all resonators your opponent controls to their owners' hands.

Fiethsing, 100 Years of Wizardry (GOG-047)

  • Old text:

    • [Enter] >>> Cancel target spell or activate or automatic ability your opponent controls unless its controller pays X, where X is the number of entities you control.

  • New text:

    • [Enter] >>> Cancel target spell or activate or automatic ability your opponent controls unless its controller pays X, where X is the number of additions you control.

Double Bind (GOG-075)

  • Old text:

    • You may pay [D] less to play this card if you control a resonator with [Villains].
      You may pay [W] less to play this card if you control a resonator with [Tales].

  • New text:

    • You may pay [D] less to play this card if you control a J/resonator with [Villains].
      You may pay [W] less to play this card if you control a
      J/resonator with [Tales].

Loki’s Strategy (GOG-080)

  • Old text:

    • If you control a resonator with [Tales] and a resonator with [Villains], you may choose up to three instead.

      You may pay [W][D] less to play this card if you control a resonator with [Tales] and a resonator with [Villains].

  • New text:

    • If you control a J/resonator with [Tales] and a J/resonator with [Villains], you may choose up to three instead.

      You may pay [W][D] less to play this card if you control a

Misprints

  • Pluie de Pétale, Star Scepter (CST-030)

    • This is a [Quickcast] card, however, there is no [Quickcast] icon on the top left corner. This is clearly an error and will be corrected. The correct information is the word [Quickcast] in the text.

  • CST Regalia Language Misprint

    • The following four cards are printed incorrectly in the English version, with the Regalia side in French. This is a clear error and will be corrected. These incorrectly printed cards can still be used in official tournaments.

Rule Updates

Deck Contruction Rule Updates

  • Between the starting ruler(s) and sideboard, you may have up to one copy of ruler cards with the same name.

  • Between the starting sub-ruler(s), EX deck and sideboard, you may have up to one copy of sub-ruler cards with the same name.

  • Between the starting extension rule and sideboard, you may have up to one copy of extension rule cards with the same name.

Contract Process Rule Updates

  • A player can perform Contract process only once per turn.
